The Product
Here's what the official Dior website says about their new lipstick range, Dior Addict Extreme:
Radiant Colour, Hold and Shine
Dior Addict fashion lipstick goes to the Extrême, with radiant colours, a perfect hold wet-look texture, and audacious, sophisticated Dior styles.
At the heart of this new soft, sensual texture lie 4 specialist waxes, acting in a targeted manner to correctly combine these extremes in a single formula. This veritable technical feat achieves perfect hold, comfort, and shine in an astonishingly fine film.
Dior Addict Extrême is available in 12 shades of pure radiant pigment, from nudes to the boldest shades, exploring all the facets of Dior elegance.
A new style means a new dress code: the Dior Addict case plays on transparent, vibrant black - black as in perfection, mystery and timelessness.
My Pick of Colours
I chose two from their 'hero' shades in the collection: 'Incognito' (#316) and 'Lucky' (#536).
- Incognito (#316): beigey-nude. A classy, timeless, nude shade to be paired with a smokey eye.
- Lucky (#536): watermelon-pink. This is the shade that is worn by Kate Moss on their campaign ad. If you have to pick just one shade from the collection, this is it. Absolutely gorgeous. *sigh*
- Bellissima (#789): bright, cherry red. This can be worn as an extremely intense and deeper shade for the evening, or blotted down to a brighter, softer shade wearable for the office or out on a casual lunch. This is what I love about bright, high-colour pay-off shades - they are versatile and can be worn to your desired intensity. Quite flattering on medium-dark skin tones as it instantly brightens your complexion.
- Black Tie (#987): a delicious, plum/violet wine, which applies a touch sheerly at first so it's wearable, but you can certainly build this up more. Ok, so I didn't purchase this - I swatched it and admired its beauty. However, as much as I wanted it, I didn't think it was unique enough to warrant immediate purchase. ;-) Worth a look (esp, now we're nearing autumn)!
The four hero shades have also been turned into matching nail polishes. I have purchased the one in 'Lucky'. I will do a swatch and review of this soon if you're interested.
L - R: Incognito 316, Bellissima 789 and Lucky 536. |
Typical pretty lip stick packaging from Dior. This new lipstick range, in particular, comes in a "transparent, vibrant black" - classic, and timeless indeed. |

Lip Swatches
All on my pigmented lips (against olive tanned skin).
Lucky 536 (shows better on my bottom lip as my upper lip tends to be more naturally dark/pigmented). |
Bellissima 789 |
Bellissima 789 (blotted down for a softer 'cherry red lip' colour for day wear). |
Oh, what the heck, let's see Bellissima (#789) one more time. ;-) |
Longevity
Excellent for this type of lightweight, moisturising formulation - a good 5-6 hours (slightly less than the Lancome's Rouge in Love Lipsticks from my experience as the latter can leave a bit of a stain). The darker, brighter the shade such as Bellissima, the longer it wears.
Size & RRP
AU$49 / US$30 for 3.5 g / 0.12 oz of product in each tube.
Availability
Available since March 19 in Australia. Been out for longer in the U.S.A. (as usual!) ;-) Fortunately, these will be part of Dior's permanent line of lipsticks. *phew!*
Overall
An amazing new generation of lipsticks (as we've seen similar to those recently of Lancome's Rouge in Love Lipsticks), which are high shine, moisturising and lightweight in feel without sacrificing colour intensity and staying power. Dior's new Addict Extreme feels very smooth (thin in texture) and buttery as if it melts on your lips, but amazingly, by no means does it melt away easily! Gorgeous and worth a try. The problem will be choosing the colour(s). >_< (Though, Lucky #536 to me, is a standout. Bellissima (#789) is a very close second). Good luck!
Hope this helps. Thanks for reading. xo
