Finally, I have a moisturiser that I like and this is it. For the longest time, I've struggled to find a moisturiser which didn't leave my skin extremely greasy looking or left my skin looking okay but not moisturised. I'm not a skincare expert but, I'd say my skin is oily-combination, its prone to sensitivity (i.e. reactive to products that are too harsh) and I don't necessarily like gel moisturisers which are marketed towards the oily skin type bracket. I like face creams that leave the skin soft and plump but not greasy. Picky? Who Me? Nope.
Like I said I'm not a skincare expert but, a while back I did look into purchasing this, and then the formula changed to ethically source the donkey milk (a key ingredient) - so now the cream is in a plastic jar and not the cutesy glass bottle (which I did want). I'm not sure how this compares to the old now discontinued formula (since I never tried it) but, I'm happy that the product is now "cruelty-free".
The cream comes in a cute box, and the jar has a "second lid" with a spatula to keep the product sanitary. Great for those who are concerned about getting their fingers/nails messy and keeping their products relatively sanitary.
the consistency |
This cream has a milky cottage cheese appearance and an ultra-thick consistency. It's quite hard to remove the second lid to the product because the product is so thick but, the spatula can help pry it open.
In spite of the thickness of this cream, it does not feel heavy on the skin unless you decide to over apply and be very generous with it but, even then my skin does not appear overly greasy for such a thick cream (but I do shine). If I use a moderate amount it leaves my skin feeling moisturised, looking refreshed and soft.
Even at my heights of greasiness, I've never been the type to forgo moisturising my face because it would make me oily but, for a good long while I was disillusioned with moistuisers on the market and really went through a season of not enjoying applying moisturser (and sometimes forgoing it - shhh!) but, thankfully not now!
I think it's important to enjoy using products, especially skincare and this cream has a fresh "non-fragranced" smell, with a texture and feel I enjoy!
I'm not quite sure the effect this will have on my skin further down the line (donkey milk + adenosine are said to help fine lines/wrinkles/damaged skin) but, the main purpose is (and I quote from Yesstyle) " to restore oil and moisture to the skin" and it does that perfectly.
