Yes, Bowsette is Now In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Bowsette craze isn't done yet, as a new fan-made mod for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild now allows players to adopt the role of a kingdom-saving Bowsette in place of erstwhile hero Link. This follows a mod released just a week ago that added Bowsette as the final boss of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

For those somehow unfamiliar with the Bowsette fandom, a post from Nintendo a few weeks ago introduced an item called the Super Crown into New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. The Super Crown allows the wearer (Toadette, in the trailer) to transform into a Peach/user hybrid. Naturally, fans had to make it sexy - within mere hours of the initial announcement, a number of talented artists had already created Bowsette, a Peach and Bowser combination usually characterized by her horns, black attire, and extreme body proportions.

While Bowsette has found a home in arist and modding communities, she's typically represented within the Super Mario Bros. universe, so the addition of her to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild courtesy of YouTube user Lynard Killer is a bit of a new spin on the character. Just like her predecessors, this iteration of Bowsette features all the hallmarks of the fandom's favorite characteristics, including the black dress, spike-adorned choker, and Bowser horns. The mod does away with some of the more lewd elements that are sometimes present in the fandom, making it accessible for all ages of Breath of the Wild fans.

The mod isn't the most extensive in the world, as it really only functions as a model and voice swap for Link, but the design work is nice and Bowsette's look fits perfectly into Breath of the Wild's aesthetic. It's also the closest thing we'll get to a game starring Bowsette as the protagonist, as Nintendo has remained steadfast in ignoring the gigantic fan community that has spawned around the non-canonical character.

Luckily, Nintendo fans are pretty good at taking their own ideas and running with them. Something about Nintendo games seems to bring out the best in the community's artists and creators, and whether it is Bowsette, Boosette, or the haunting, horrifying visage of a Mario without his trademark moustache, they always seem to keep their content alive for as long as they want to before moving on to the next exciting thing.
