Janelle Monae pulled out all the stops this Halloween with a spectacularly spooky costume for Beyonce and Jay-Z's annual bash in West Hollywood, California.

The 33-year-old turned heads (literally) at the A-list soiree dressed as a decapitated bride called Annie Bellum.

The star-studded event was thrown at The Allbright in West Hollywood, an area of Los Angeles that notoriously goes all-out for Halloween.

Bey and Jay's impressive guest list included Seth Rogen, Lana Del Rey, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats, Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, Gabrielle Union and, of course, Kelly Rowland.

'Annie bellum the "headless doll face" bride,' the singer wrote in the caption of an Instagram video.

The video showed the hitmaker looking out at the cityscape while standing on a balcony wearing what appeared to be a deceptively simple costume.

As she turned, the terrifying style came to life, or death, in this case.

The star was dressed in an Antebellum-era white wedding gown, cradling her severed head in her hands instead of a bouquet.

There was splattered blood down the high, ruffled neck of the dress but the rest was pristine.

Janelle rocked two cascading braids in her hair that were adorned with dried flowers which fell almost to the floor.
